Did you know that Alexanderstrasse was one of the busiest shopping streets in Aachen at the beginning of the 19th century? Thus, a dozen bakeries and butcher shops found themselves located in it. However, the street was badly damaged by the destruction of the war, so that today only a few remnants of the once magnificent street architecture can be seen.
