Nobis Printen Aachen, Pontstrasse 1910

Pontstraße, 1910

NOBIS YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW

Nobis Printen was founded in 1858 by master baker Johannes Michael Nobis on Aachen’s Pontstrasse. His son, master baker Josef Nobis, took over the bakery in 1895 and opened a second bakery on the Sandkaulstrasse in 1923, which was later continued in turn by one of his sons, master baker Franz Nobis. In 1932, another son of Josef Nobis, master baker Heinz Nobis, opened a bakery with his wife Netty on what was then Kaiserallee, and is now the Oppenhoffallee. Today, this bakery is the oldest existing Nobis Printen bakery.

In 1938, Josef Nobis Jr. took over the bakery on Pontstraße from his father and ran it until 2002. Only from 1939 to 1945, at the time of the Second World War, the bakery was once again managed by his father Josef Nobis. Josef Nobis Jr. passed his master craftsman’s examination in 1947. The bakeries that still exist today on the Hotmanspief and the Krämerstraße were opened in the 1950s. Due to the fact that Nobis has always placed special emphasis on the production of high-quality Printen, the bakery has had “Printen” in its name ever since. Master baker Michael Johannes Nobis, the son of Josef Nobis Jr., joined the management of the bakery in 1993. In 1994, the bakery moved into the new building at its current location on the Charlottenburger Allee.

Throughout the 1990s, the bakery grew constantly. In 2005, the bakery was largely expanded. Today, 44 bakeries and cafés in the Aachen area belong to the company. Every day, numerous varieties of fresh buns and breads, savory snacks, sweet pastries and delicious Printen are baked. Owner Michael Nobis places the highest value on freshness, variety and quality. Today he manages the modern, traditional bakery in the fourth generation. In 2017, the administration moved to a new office on the Bakery’s premises. In 2018, Nobis Printen celebrated its 160th anniversary.
